Are you feeling constantly tired, suffering from brain fog and poor memory, hair falling out, gaining weight? Or maybe you are having heart palpitations, anxiety, insomnia, weight loss? These are symptoms of an underactive or overactive thyroid. My extensive experience in thyroid conditions will have you feeling like your old self again.
The consequences of thyroid dysfunction are systemic. The thyroid has an impact on virtually all body systems and the symptoms can leave you feeling like your body has let you down. Some of the symptoms of Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s include
- Brain fog
- Poor memory and concentration
- Hair loss
- Weight gain
- High cholesterol
- Prolonged and heavy menstruation
- Pain and stiffness in the muscles and joints.
And then there is the opposite end of the spectrum. Hyperthyroidism and Grave’s disease can include
- A feeling that everything has sped up.
- Heart palpitations
- Feeling restless and irritable
- Weight loss
Often clients come to me and say that their Doctor told them their thyroid is fine, that the blood tests results all came back OK. As a Naturopath, I read blood test results very differently compared to a Doctor. Whereas usually a Doctor will just check to see if the results are within a reference range, I look at the optimum range, and therein lies the difference. Your thyroid blood test results can be within the Pathology reference range, but that doesn’t necessarily mean your thyroid is functioning properly. I listen to your story, not just look at blood test results.
Thyroid health is an area I have a particular interest in and years of experience in. When I treat thyroid conditions, I treat your whole body – because thyroid conditions usually stem from multiple body system problems. Some of the imbalances that can lead to thyroid problems and thyroid autoimmune disease are
- Digestive disorders
- Intestinal permeability
- Compromised immune system
- Heavy metals
- Viral infections
After listening to your story and asking about your health history, I aim to pinpoint the cause and treat accordingly, together with treating the sometimes debilitating symptoms. For more in depth information about thyroid conditions, read more.
