This easy to make, decadent and delicious caramel sauce is sugar and (optional) dairy free. It is high in fibre and essential minerals and vitamins such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium, folate and B vitamins.

Remember though, it is still high in natural sugars so is an occasional treat only. Whenever possible, please use organic

Ingredients:

300 grams pitted majool dates

2 tablespoons butter (or coconut oil for Paleo)

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon Celtic or Himalayan salt

Method:

Place dates in a food processor or nutri bullet style blender. Cover with boiling filtered water and add all the other ingredients.

Blend until completely smooth and creamy. The longer you blend, the creamier it will become. If it becomes a little difficult to blend, you can add more water.
